Bricks — Page Template Definition

Prepared by
Jeffrey Thomas Baygents
documenting WordPress and Bricks Builder workflows.

This checklist defines how Page Templates are created and used in Bricks Builder. Page Templates control the structural layout for standard WordPress Pages and establish consistent wrapping, spacing, and layout behavior before any page‑specific content is added.

Page Templates are structural containers. They define layout logic and dynamic placeholders, not editorial content or design‑specific styling.

Checklist Objective

Define a stable, reusable Page Template structure so all WordPress Pages inherit consistent layout behavior across the site.

Preconditions

1. Create a new Page Template

  • Navigate to Bricks → Templates
  • Tap Add New Template
  • Template Title: Page Template 01
  • Template Type: Single

2. Define template conditions

  • In the Bricks editor, open Template Settings

    • Condition: Post Type
    • Post Type: Page
  • Confirm the template applies only to Pages

3. Establish base layout structure

  • Add a top‑level Section
  • Add a Container within the section
  • Ensure the container is responsible for page width and alignment
  • Do not add decorative styling or content

4. Insert dynamic content placeholders

  • Add dynamic elements required for Pages:
    • Post Title (dynamic)
    • Post Content (dynamic)
  • Confirm placeholders reference Page content dynamically
  • Do not hard‑code any text or media

5. Validate template behavior

  • Preview a sample Page in the frontend
  • Confirm the template wraps content correctly
  • Confirm spacing and alignment behave as expected
  • Confirm no page‑specific styling exists in the template

6. Save and lock the Page Template

  • Tap Save in the Bricks editor
  • Do not modify this template during content creation

Required Output

  • Reusable Page Template created
  • Template conditions correctly applied to Pages only
  • Dynamic placeholders configured correctly
  • Clean structural wrapper established for all Pages

Pause & Lock

The Page Template is now locked. All WordPress Pages must use this template unless explicitly documented otherwise.
